You can always your hair dyed again, just know that depending on the lightness of your highlights, the black may dye oddly on those parts. You can always dye your hair though!

Yes, but with most colors you will have to fill in the color before it goes dark. Talk to some one at Sally beauty or call the 800 clairol number. Since it was highlighted, some of the color in the hair is missing, so when you put the dark on, it has a tendency to go purple or off toned. A really great color that doesn't require filling is Clairol Second Nature (you can get it at Sally's) and mix with an equal amount of 10 vol developer since the hair has already been bleached. I would recommend a dark, dark brown vs. black, if possible, starting out.

Warning! Warning! Blonde or light colored highlights have a tendency to turn purple when covered with black hair dye.
I know this from personal experience. Purple streaks don't suit me much.

no problem. it's easier to colour hair dark then it s to make it light. when you lighten the hair pigmentation it has to be stripped of all the natural dyes. but when you want to colour it dark, all the hair has to do is absorb the colourant. no problem. i've dyed by hair dark after highlights and it's the perfect solution when you've gotten tired of looking like a caramel bar. but instead of dying hair absolute black (which may look harsh and hard) aim for a very dark brown tone. it's more natural that way.

I'd say yes. But depending on what color your hair is right now, you might want to bleach it first, and I advise going to a professional or someone who knows hair very well for this one.
