i saw a guy who was a total noob to martial arts punch the bag a few times with no real technique (pretty normal for someone with no experience). then he tried to jump kick it, but he was an unusually high jumper. his foot kinda slid off the top of the back and caught in the chains that held up the bag. he was hanging upside down from his ankle and when they lifted him out, he had a big red welt on his foot from the chains. the guy never came back.

he also was talking to a kid that was 15 and had been studying for several years. he found out the kid (a sophomore) went to the same high school he used to go to. he said "yeah, i played football.... if you ever have someone giving you trouble there, just let me know... "
that same night, they sparred lightly (no heavy contact, no face contact) for about 4 miutes. the 15 year old (who was REALLY good at what he was doing) was pretty much going as lightly as he could and the other guy just couldnt keep up. he was sweating, out of breath, and missed every block no matter how easy the other guy went on him.

We used to have a heavy bag up that the chains didn't attach to the rack right, so if one of the more advanced students started kicking and punching, sometimes it would come off. It was usually no big deal, only one side would come off at a time and you'd just put it back up and keep going. Well one time I was going at it, and somehow it came off on both sides. Also, somehow, it managed to be rocking back toward me when that happened. I managed to catch it. I got a round of aplause out of it... but it was heavier than I could hold as the rush faded away, so I dropped it a minute later. My instructor and I put it back up, and the next week they redid the connection for the chains and it didn't come down any more for a while.

I've injured myself when someone was using a kick shield so might as well tell you how it happened, though I don't think it was that stupid, I wasn't showing off, jsut following my instructor's orders.

In my TKD class our instructor thought we needed more practice on jumping kicks (which evidently we did). Jumping turning kick and side kick went fine on both legs. It was then time to try a jumping back kick. I did one in the air without hitting the shield to get the technique in my head, then on my first try I landed on my right foot which bent inward and severely sprained my ankle. I actually found this kinda funny cos I twist the same ankle all the time in training but that one just looked so bad!

I remember we had a big muscled out guy come in, and he thought it'd be a piece of cake to workout with a bag. But he kept stopping for breaks all the time, brarely made it through the workout. His coordination wasn't good either, he'd miss the bag when it was swinging back to him a few times. He thought just bc he had muscles that he was going to be able hit the bag faster and harder than the rest of us...guess the muscle just slowed him down...and brain too!

ha,ha,ha... I had a bbq at my house a few weeks ago and we were in the backyard under the patio cooking sausages, when one of the guys that was there, ran down the stairs, saw my boxing bag (which it hanging at the other end of the patio) Yelled out.. "oh yeahh, Karate Bag.. Hiyaa" and went to kick it full force.. well it had been raining slightly and his other foot that was on the ground slipped from under him and he ended up falling on his back... everyone saw.. even the people next door on their balcony because he had drawn everyone's attention to him before kicking the bag.... ha,ha funniest thing to see after a couple of beers I tell you... He ended up with a bruised tail bone and sore foot.....

I saw this guy try to axe kick a 100 lb heavy bag that was swinging towards him., and he was beginner to intermediate, but he did it on mud, as his bag was outside under an engine hoist... When he raised his foot and went to chop down, I saw his hair go fowards and head go to the ground as the chopping motion from the axe kick made his supporting leg sling out from under him. Like he used the bag as a fulcrum to slam his head into the mud.. Couldnt have slammed himself down any faster, or picture perfect. His feet were at the top of the bag in midair as his head was in the mud... HAHAHA.. he laughed though.. and didnt really seem to care.. I know ida been embarrassed..lol

Years ago we had some clown at our school that jumped onto the bag and he would cling on while delivering his techniques. The whole thing came out of the ceiling one day on top of him. He left the school shortly there after.....I ran into him later and he was bragging about how his kicks were powerful enough to tear a heavy bag down.
Like I said , he was a clown.

A time comes to mind when someone was placed into the bag and then the bag was punched to wits end, then the bag was opened to allow his body to sprawl out on the floor. He lived I believe.
