No, I've been very lucky. If anything, once people know more about my religion after I explain things to them, they usually have high respect for my beliefs. I haven't been made fun of, just annoyed sometimes by people's ignorance. That's about it. However, I don't really blame them for not knowing about Islam. They live in a society where it is still quite unusual to them. Our job is to educate them, and let them know about our beliefs. I enjoy talking to people about my religion. The worst thing they'll do is act like they're not interested, and then I won't push the issue. I have almost been bullied by someone before, but stood up for myself, and put them in their place. We ended up respecting each other, and had no future problems. Sometimes, you have to stand up for your beliefs. As far as being called a terrorist, lol! I am so used to hearing that word, that I've become immune to it. As long as we know that is a lie made up by the government, and that we are peaceful, then we will project that to others, and they will want to be our friends, Insha Allah. That is the attitude I approach others with. If they don't want to like me because I am a Muslim, then I really don't think they matter any way. Salam.

I am not a Muslim, but I am deeply sorry for the troubles Muslims have had to go through recently. I cannot say I understand your pain, but I can relate because I am a minority(an unpopular minority.) One man actually tried to prevent me from voting once (at the polls), even though it is my right. I have many Muslim friends. Most are co workers, we are tutors. I see that people give them a lot of stares and whisper to each other. This makes me very upset. One person, I think he was a little crazy though, started to harass a girl about 9/11. He was quickly removed. I hope things get better soon. Good luck.

When i was in a class and we were told that there was bombing in london tube due to some muslim terrorists, as i was the only muslim in the class, all of the students just gave the comments againt muslims even though i was there and they knew that i am a strict muslim... I felt discriminated... as one should understand that not all the people on this planet are same. Not all the christians or hindus or muslims or buddists are same. But why do we muslims get bullied for the act of so called muslim bombers.
everyone called us terrorists .... what about 911 story.. More people call it an inside job than the people who believe it was an attack by muslims.. dont just accuse without solid proofs and confirmation. And say i agree for the sake of arguments that 911 was an attack by some terrorists who wanted to destroy america, killing around 4000-5000 people what about Bush who has killed 150,000 just in IRAQ. The death toll in afghanistan is even greater than IRAQ, who would you call terrorist now...
For me anyone who kills even one person kills all the humanity ..

Ya know --- I'm really upset by some of these postings in this section. People snipe at each other over religion and even go as far as to criticize other denominations in their own religion. Well, since this is open to the whole world, why should it be any different? Still, it's an awful shame.
I believe there is one God. So do a lot of you others. God doesn't have a religion. Religious denomination is an invention of man that has to do with forms of worship. I don't think God, who created man, is Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Shinto, or any other faith. He is God, we are His creation, and we owe Him worship and honor and praise. We also owe the rest of His creation respect and love.
Unfortunately, there are radicals in all denominations. That ruins it for the rest of us, who would rather live in peace, love our God, and care for His creation.
It's just too bad that the radicals make so much noise and the rest of us are so quiet. Don't you think?

Salaam Alaykum, and Ya Ali Madad to my fellow Shia believers,
I get discriminated against, get the "weird" stares because I'm a Muslim of European descent. People are so oblivious to diversity in Islam, it's ridiculous. Some people automatically think if you're brown, you're Muslim. Do people know the highest Muslim population is in Indonesia? ...

Converts? I study in this internet site that folk do no longer "convert" to Islam, extremely that all human beings is born a Muslim and people who deviate from the religion i.e non muslims are the underclass.
