What happens if you take codine and then consume alcohol?

We'll say...2 pills of codine, orally, and then like 3 beers. What will happen?

Are there any negative health side effects? Like, can it hurt you at all?

Drugs and alcohol don't mix. Don't you realize that? People have died from such a combination. If I were you, I certainly wouldn't experiment just to find out what would happen. You may never find out if you don't, and you may never find out if you do --drugs that is, with alcohol.

Play it safe and just have your three beers, and if you need codeine for pain, skip the beer. Either one can be lethal in excessive amounts , but in a combination you may not live to tell about it. Why am I ranting? Because I knew someone who O.D.'d on the same things. He was only 16.

um. you could potentially stop breathing. seriously. I would ask your doctor before you take the medication if you are planning to drink alcohol. It might not suppress the CNS to that extent with that small of a dosage but I know that there is always a risk of respiratory depression when you take 2 CNS depressants at the same time.

It really depends on your size and weight, but it's definetly a lethal combination. You should never mix two CNS depresants together.
