I'm not sure what 72% of what means.

The crime rate is fairly high, amd many Haitians live in fear.
But the number one crime in Haiti at the moment is kidnappings , here are some satistics>
UN in Port-au-Prince, the following numbers for kidnappings in Hait, 2006i: June: 30; July: 55; August:78; September: 45; October: 27 So numbers are improving.

But there is a lot of corruption going on , and break-ins in people's homes.

I don't think they keep stats like in the US. Most things are never reported and police can be corrupt. I'll tell you I've been there and felt safe enough - most of the time. Many people carry handguns. Grocery stores and gas stations have a guard with a shotgun in front of them. Right now kidnappings are very high, expecially for non-Haitians because they have more access to money. I would not go at this time. It varies a lot depending on the political situation.
