Hi! Atlanta has the Georgia Aquarium, and there is an ice skating roller rink right downtown as well! On New Year's Eve there is the Peach drop at the Underground where families go to count down. There is a dog park in Piedmont Park where families take their dogs on days when it is nice. Also, on craigslist there are groups for people such as yourself (specifically for Atlanta) where families plan activities for the little ones and give suggestions. And then of course, Disney World Orlando (where the weather is always nice) is only a 7 hour drive. Good luck!

I don't think it even really snows much in Georgia. I don't think you will feel cooped up at all. We live in North Carolina and it hardly snows here either. Perhaps you are moving to the more mountainous western region of Georgia though? Buy good winter clothes like a full body snow suit from Columbia or Patagonia. Get her some good and flexible snow/cold weather boots with insulation and a hat and gloves. Even if it gets below 0 degrees you and she can run and play. Kids adapt more easily to weather changes than adults do anyways. You'll be too busy adapting to Georgia from Australia in my opinion.

I live in atlanta and really it doesnt get to cold on most days. Alot of the churches in the area have mommies day out. Which would be nice for you give you both chances to meet other people. Also there is alot of playgroups that meet once or so aweek at mc donalds or other places with indoor playgrouds so the kids can play together while the parents enjoy a chance to converse with adults. You can also look into dance and gymnastics classes. But overall the weather still isnt that bad for playing in the yard just get a nice jacket and gloves and go play.

Go outside and have fun. Make sure you both have appropriate clothing for the weather. Make sure to find your local public library and get all kinds of books to read. Do art projects (cutting and gluing are good projects for a 2-year-old. Use all-plastic scissors and a glue stick). Get a big pan of uncooked rice and give your daughter your measuring cups, spoons, funnels, etc, and let her pour the rice. (Put the pan of rice on a blanket for easy cleanup.)

As for the healthy, I always make sure to wash cart handles with antibacterial wipes and try to avoid places that are teeming with kids during flu season. Wash your hands every time you walk in the door and before you eat. We always use hand sanitizer when we are leaving someplace where I have concerns about germs. Try to air out your house even if it's cold. Turn off the heat, open all the windows, and go somewhere for a few hours. Diffusing essential oils kills airborne germs, too. Especially important in the bathroom and in a room where a sick person is.

You might want to research flu shots to decide if that is something you want to do.
