I, from personal experience would go with a Smart Parts Ion. Its really one of the best markers out there for the cost. It is completely customizable and runs very efficiently with complete stock parts. It goes for $199 on actionvillage and you can also find it at any paintball field or shop. The only thing is that you should only run nitrogen through it because using CO2 will mess up the internals. You can buy an anti-ciphon tube, which will allow the marker to run on CO@ but some problems may still occur. Heres the link.

The Ion is also a well rounded marker, you can play any variety of game with it, from just playing in the woods with friends to extremely competitive speedball tournaments, and is very durable as well. If you end up getting one just ask me about upgrades and i will be glad to help you out (soccerlgo@yahoo.com)

tippman A-5 is defiantly better if you plan on playing in the woods. tippmanns are the only guns you can take in the woods and not worry about breaking them. But just to clarify the A-5 and 98 are not M4 style guns, they are just made of metal and painted black. And no paintball gun can ever be a sniper. best you can do is hide in the woods untill people get close enough for you to cap em. The difference in distance between like a 4 foot long paintball gun and one thats a foot and a half is maybe only 30 to 40 feet. So you wont be hanging back picking people off, you'll just end up with a really bulky gun that you cant work around cover, and that means up close your gonna get ripped apart.

The Spyder shutter is mechanical, not electric, but a good mech marker. For Spyders you can get an Imagine for $109 new. Other models from there up in price. As the othet guy mentioned, PMI Piranah's are good too, for their price. I would go with the Spyder Imagine, and get a good electric loader, like the Viewloader Evo II.

When purchasing the Paintball sniper guns, it is important that the following decisions are considered. Go for a Paintball sniper gun that has a clean barrel and approximately around the size of the average paintball pellets.
A clean barrel will ensure that the pellets fired out of the Paintball sniper guns don't make noise and make a clean hit. Also, a clean barrel will prevent pellet breaking or pellet splashing in the gun itself.
Noise is one of the key factors that come as an advantage and is an often employed strategy by sniper gun shooter, because noise emitting out of the sniper gun can prove fatalistic and may affect the stealth advantage.

check ebay for a *new* gun... make sure it is new in the box. I am a huge fan of the Tippman A-5. It is no an electronic gun but you can buy all of the aftermarket stuff to make it your own. It is designed to not chop any paint, you can't fire fast enough! It is VERY user friendly too and easy to field strip. Bite the bullet and buy it... you won't regret it!
