Why is this here in Religion and Spirituality.

Because this country was founded on Freedom. Freedom of all men to live and worship God as they choose. it was later decided that to worship God as they choose was to have total freedom of which God they choose to worship, or how many gods for that matter.

Now as we have paid all attention to Abortion and Gay Marriage.
things that really do not affect any of unless we choose to have one or to be married to a Gay person (which i support).

the Military Commissions act has been signed into law by Mr. Bush. this act eliminates Habeus Corpus, (our right to know why we are in prison.) and states that anyone deemed an unlawful enemy combatent (with no description of what an unlawful enemy combatent is)can be jailed and tortured to the point of organ failure.
With no right to a trial or jury or to even know why they are there.

Bush has used people's Homophobia to destroy the bill of rights.
and the american dream.

Smiley, i know what it is, i am making a point here. that while blinded by the HOT issues we are allowing our freedoms to slip away undetected. and that will soon turn to religion....

Jhonny C.

i have no problem defending this country.
I have a BIG problem when we make laws that single out people for discrimination.
(Gay marriage ban)

and then make further laws that make it possible for the government to simply declare ANYONE a UNLAWFUL ENEMY COMBATENT.

the government has used these type of laws to create Japanese concentration camps. to jail reporters for what they wrote about America (pre TV)

now with the end of Habeus Corpus they do not even have to tell you why you are being held in the first place and even if they do tell you and it is a false reason thay can just call you an unlawful enemy combatent
and none of our laws apply niether do the gineva conventions.

see you in GITMO.

WELL STATED!!!!!!!

This direction of government and foreign policy has been followed for some time now but has only recently come to affect US citizens. Dis you know, for example, that some years ago the US passed a law giving itself permission to go into any country to arrest (kidnap) any foreign national that they see fit.

I got so confused reading that....
but check this out:

you are a military person getting shot at by a terrorist in a street. By law, you MUST be aware of civilians behind the terrorist you are shooting at AND the civilians BEHIND you that the terrorist COULD shoot. If you do not tell the civilans to move and the terrorist kills one of them, he gets charged with murder and YOU get charged with manslaughter! And if you accidently shoot a civilian behind him by accident you can get charged too! HOW MESSED UP!

So let me understand this. You would prefer that the Islamo Fascist Terrorists run rampant in the US as opposed to trying to defend against them, Right?!
