If you got mud on your hands you would wash them with soap and water, but after going to the bathroom we use only toilet paper.

Good point. That's actually pretty disgusting when you think about it huh?

Well, as a matter of fact in Asia paper is not widely used (and if you visit the Far East I encourage you to keep some tissues with you all the time) They use water to clean themselves.

In Japan, there are toilets that have a built-in water spray that cleans you right up while you are sitting there on the toilet!

Very practical question.

You want wet toilet paper, wet it?

But why not use plain water? I have been to plenty of places in Asia, they use water, they have this shower attachment kind of thing to clean yourself up.

I once actually used a seat ( in a hotel) that had a built in nozzle in the back. When you turned a knob, a really fast jet/stream of clean H2O would come out and hit you in the ***, and wah you automatically. All you need is to make sure you adjust your butts so it gets everywhere and everything.

Maybe it was just the evolution of tp. I remember my grandma telling me stories of how they used pages from the telephone book. The dry toilet paper is cheaper. I have gotten the moist wipes recently in addition to the regular paper and while the wipes are good, they are more expensive.

If the problem really bothers you, there is a product known as Baby Wipes -- premoistened towelettes that are designed for that specific problem. You can also use a bidet, which allows you to wash the affected area with soap and water.

It's cheaper. But if you want feel free to use whichever type of toilet paper you wish, whether wet or dry or not even paper it doesn't really matter to me.

toilet paper needs to break up when it gets wet so that it wont clog your toilet. If it started out wet it would break apart too soon. If you use wetnaps in your toilet be prepared to learn to use a plunger.

Start with dry TP then use a wet wipe. It works wonders. I used to have more skidmarks than the track at the Indy 500.

Good question. Like others have said there are moist wipes that can be used....however, just be aware that these do not break down as easily in the sewer/septic system and can cause clogs.

because when toilet paper was invented there were only out houses no sinks with running water.
