What are some good start-up questions when leading a discussion based upon Immigration?

It can be about immigration in general.

I am assuming this is a class assignment since it has been asked a couple times tonight..

"Do you think that immigration should be limited or that any limits should be lifted - Why"

"Do you think that it is different today than in the past and why?"

"Do you think that illegal immigration should be punished and why?"

"Who do you think should have to pay for the immigration process (background checks etc.)?"

"What do you think should be the criteria, if any, for someone wanting to be a citizen (in the past there were job and or monetary requirements, should there be now and why)?"

"Should our immigration laws be stricter or more lenient than other countries'?"

Hope this gets you started. Good Luck!

I think immigration should be limited yes, we're currently in a war, and letting people come in illegaly isn't the smartest thing.

"Do you think that illegal immigration should be punished and why?"
well i dont think immigration should be accepted as it is. Immigrants break the laws put up by the U.S. to come here in the first place, what makes us believe that they would follow the laws when they actually get into the U.S.?? we have no records of people coming into our country, how do we know that these people aren't rapists, or murderers? I give all the respect in the world to those immigrants who go through the Visas and all the hard paperwork to become a citizen in the U.S. , but should you really give respect to those who sneak in here?

A great one was asked was by Lou Dobbs, a newscaster on CNN and whom was hosting a special re: immigration.

In essence, he asked his audience if they felt Middle Class Americans were victims of illegal immigration.

I'm with "Swan." There were a few other suggestions were nice, too. All you prejudiced and/or undersexed bozos should just stay away from perfectly appropriate questions that deserve your best attempt at a perfectly acceptable answer.
