I just was curious. It is the "dominant" religion where I live (SC), I was wondering if it was the main practiced religion in other areas. I know other cultures practice different religions, but how many people are Christians?

A little over two billion, or about a third of the World's population today. Not sure about the stats for the U.S.

But from my vantage point, I'd consider only a small fraction of that number to be 'true' Christians... if you get my drift.

Peace be with you.

I don't know what percentage but if you get right down to true Christianity, I do mean TRUE, it is much smaller than most people think.

Where I live in Pa. it is considered the Bible belt of Pa. Where I grew up 3 hours away in Northeast Pa, the big religion is roman catholic. Some would add rc's to the number of Christians but I don't because I know better, their so far from truth that its scary.

If I were to hazzard an honest guess, I would say less than 30% are the real deal, the rest don't truly understand what real Christianity is.

In the USA the proportion is a shade under 80%. The USA is by far the most religious country in the first world.

Almost 50% of the population believe that Genesis is the literal truth. Those quoting lower percentages usually do so to try and prove somehow that Christians are a persecuted minority, they are not.

Something like 60%. But that's just people who call themselves Christian. Only about 10% of that 60% acutally practice Christianity (read the Bible, pray, etc.). I believe mormonism is starting to become the dominant religion.

Approx 2.1 billion people on earth are Christians. Approx 1.3 are Muslim, 14 million are Judaism. I guess that would be a little over a third.

it depends what you mean

more than 1 billion or so people in the workd are 'Christian' if you count Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant together
