I'm not even a christian, but I was just listening to this fellow on hannity & colmes tell me how jesus was black. i'm sure there's a good argument for that. but, when i hear it, i ask myself this question:

Isn't one of the requirements of being the messiah of the jewish people, um, being jewish?

so, someone, explain a few of the theories ppl have reached on things they can't possibly know.

Jesus was a Jew.

He wasn't Black,
He wasn't White,
He wasn't Chinese,
He was a Jew.

The Bible is very clear on his heritage.
Some people just choose to believe what they want to.
(I'm not a Christian either, but this question has a very simple answer).

According to Matthew's gospel, 1st chapter, Jesus was descended from King David, who was descended from Judah - one of the twelve sons of Jacob. The families of Jacob's twelve sons made up the Hebrew/Jewish/Israeli people.
Just for the record, he was born in Bethlehem, near Jerusalem in Israel, not in Africa. His parents took Him to Egypt to protect Him from Herod, the appointed king, who had all the babies in Bethlehem killed to try to eliminate a possible heir to the throne. Herod had already had two of his own sons executed for the same reason.

Yes, He was Jewish. Having grown up in the Mediterranean it has been speculated that he might have had swarthier skin than the way he is normally depicted in pictures and statues.
(Some pictures would make him look German or Anglo Saxon).

He was a Middle Eastern Jew. Black people claim He was black, white people claim He was white, blah blah blah. They do this to connect believers with who they are believing in. That's why all the european paintings of Jesus show Him as white: to connect Him with the people.

The History channel has a special on following his steps, and I believe they said that he was dark skinned. Not "black" but like the Egyptian dark skin.

I personally wouldn't care if He is plaid....It's about what He did and who He is that matters. I feel the same way about people, everywhere.
