Not too many people know enough languages to compare. Of the four I know I would say Spanish, but that's not much to compare. What about the Asian languages? Other European languages?
Also, a same language can sound harsh in one area, and melodious in an other. For instance English in Boston and English in Alabama or Georgia do not sound the same. The South makes it soud more melodious.

Swedish and Norwegian would have to tie, I'd say. Then again, I don't speak anything Asian, so maybe they would qualify as well and I just don't know it. I've heard some Vietnamese, which was pretty melodious to me. Finnish is very rhythmic, but I don't think you could call it melodious. The rhythm is too repetitive.

I lived in Sweden for a year and I would have to say Swedish. I became totally infatuated with listening to the way the language sounds; so much so that I inadvertently began speaking English in the same sing-songy pattern.

Hi Susan,
The most melodious language by far
has got to be Brazilian Portuguese.
It is unique -- very sensual, very lyric-like
Listen to some of the songs of Joao Gilberto
or Stan Getz, especially the song ´The Girl
from Ipanema´and you´ll see why it is so
melodious.
Hope you like it!

Many people think it's French, and I'll admit it is a beautiful language, when spoken right.

But the most melodious one to me has got to be Spanish.
It's more romantic, more passionate, just everything "more" to me.....
