Well, almost every answer I've seen to this has told you the same thing. Windows 95 is over 12 years old. Windows 98 is 8+ years old. Windows ME was a piece of junk. Windows 2000 is 6+ years old. Windows XP is nearly 4 years old.

I have an 18 year old car, for which I cannot find many parts any more. They quit making them years ago. Same with software.

Microsoft announced years ago that support for Win95 had stopped, and they gave a date for stopping support for Win98. However, you can still get Win95 and 98 advice from Microsoft, as well as a lot of other people. Quit grousing and buy some current operating system. If you don't like Microsoft, switch to Linux.

Point is , there is no need to support older O/S's , new software comes out everyday with higher standards , elimanting the use of the older O/S's. Its a waste of time and money to support an O/S like Windows 95 or 98 because they are dieng out

It's a business. The object of a business is to make money for the stockholders, and, as technology advances, new products/software are introduced which require more than the older PCs can handle.

Stop me if I am incorrect - but aren't manufacturers of any product required by law to support it (via parts, etc.) for a period of 7 years? If that's the case, MS has fulfilled its requirement.

Microsoft needs to make more money. Bill Gates is not rich enough yet. When does this do is getting ready to hit the market in about 30 days, so they hadn't stopped supporting other systems.

All businesses will stop supporting there older products, support cost money, and the older versions are not making any money to cover the support cost.

Its called herding.....move along or move out of the way...aside from that technology can not remain stagnent and they can not dedicate services for older models when movement is foward..So older o/s's get killed off to make way for the new.

They are to old of OS, thats' microsoft's way of making everyone update to XP or Vista when it comes out. 98 is like 8+ years old, thats why, they think everyone buy now should be at least at ME or others above 98.

This is MS's way of making you Upgrade whether you want to or not to get critical updates...this is also a way to save lots of money on their part not having to support XP SP1 and below...Yea, pissed me off too... ":-\
