Before I answer your question I just want to state that I am a Dental Technologist not a Dentist. Dental Technologists only make dental prosthesis with a prescription from a Dentist and we do not give out medical advice. Thus, any comments I make are just personal thoughts and should not be taken as medical advice. So GO TO YOUR DENTIST!!!!!

Now to answer your question, there is gum that is free around your tooth which it may have went under if your gums are unhealthy. Best thing to use is a water pix. If you do not have one try swooshing salt water between your teeth. But if a chip did get stuck there you should go to you dentist for a check up.

You may have traumatized the gum with the chip. Warm salt water rinses and a couple of days could make it feel better if that's what happened. If it stays sore for more than a couple of days, go see your dentist... something more could be going on. Keep on flossing anyway.

Good luck and happy travels!

well, the question is how long ago was it and does the pain get worse or better. Are you sure the piece of chip is still there. Go to a dentist if it gets worse. Otherwise it could be that your gm is a little sore and will get better as time passes. Give it about a day and see.

Rinse with warm salt warter. If it is not better soon see the Dentist. You could have something more going on. It is hard to know with out seeing you or an xray and i am just an assistant.

Maybe its falling out or you bit down on it wrong. I am not sure whats wrong but to ease the pain: -gargle with warm salt water -drugstore products like canker-x or anbesol that are pain relieving gels for toothaches, gums, sores, ect. -see your dentist!
