I plan on getting the surgery when I get back from China, but I need to have some opinions on it. Is it safe, what is the ratio to good and bad experiences, I couldn't find that information.

I had lazik in 2000 and it was one of the best thing I ever did in my life. I could not even get out of bed without my glasses before the surgery. I do have a little night vision problems but it is still 1000000 times better than before! I really recommend it. Just make sure you have a good doctor.

My response is not quite as positive as the others you've received.

A good friend of mine had the procedure performed by the doctor who developed the procedure (or who brought it to the US, or something ... anyway, it is believable that this person would have the contacts and the money to go to a real expert).

She had to lie still with her eye bandaged closed for several days, so the recovery was not simple.

The results were very good, and she stopped wearing glasses. But now, perhaps 5 years later, her vision is not as good, and she is considering whether she wants to start wearing glasses or have surgery done again.

She's 60 years old, and I don't know whether age has caused her prescription to change faster than if she were younger. (I always thought that your vision changed MORE SLOWLY as you age.

Anyway, the doctor probably won't guarantee you that you won't need surgery again in the future. But you might want to talk with him/her about this possibility.

Good luck!

My brother and two of my best friends had that surgery done, and they are really happy with the results. It's not painful, and they were just fine after the surgery. My girl friends could not use make up for two or three days..don't remember exactly.. My brother was almost blind, and now he's almost 20/20. I highly recommended. Good luck! don't be afraid. Just look for a good doctor.

A family member had it done and he swears by it. Be sure to check out the doctor and get recommendations. The worst part of the surgery was immediately after. Your eyes can become very dry for months. It gradually disappears.

I think it's great I know lots of people who have had it done and they are very satisified and happy that they did it.
