I used to work at a store that sells Aluminum pans and this man came in and told me that cooking and storing food in Aluminum changes the taste of the food. Does anyone know if this is true or not? I plan to make a Sweet Potato dish for Thanksgiving. I will take it out the oven, put it in the car, drive 1 hour there, and it will be served about an hour after that. Will it affect the taste?

I do not like using aluminum for storing or cooking. I even refuse to drink out of cans because I can taste the difference. It has also been proven that using aluminum pots has contributed to dementia in our senior citizens. There is also aluminum in your deodorant (go read the ingredients).

Use glass or ceramic. Store it in plastic.

Yes, you can use an aluminum pan. Buy a 9 x 13 size if you can find one. That should work out well. You may want to put a cookie sheet under the pan for the oven because if the food is heavy, they can bend a little.

Sweet potato pie should not have an altered taste in an aluminum pan, but I wouldn't store it in it for more than a day or so. Happy Thanksgiving!

I think a lot of the taste depends on the acidity of the food you are making. I have tossed all aluminum pans and have replaced with glass.

NO. Just don't store in the alum. pan after dinner is over.
That is when the taste changes a little. Best to store all foods in either glass or plastic.
