Thank you, Dport. That's exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. :)

typically on a Turkey you are looking at around 60 - 65%.This is relatively accurate as we know with added body weight, added bone mass, however they are somewhat linear. It also depends upn what you mean by yield.. if you include the skin it moves the scale to around an added 2-3%. The neck adds .4 - .6%... depending upon again what you consider edible.

Allow 1/2 to 3/4 Lb. for serving portion for birds over 12 Lbs.

A safe plan is to expect 10 lbs of meat after the skin, bones, entrails and etc. are removed.

At 6 ounces per slice for heavy eaters and 4 ounces for normal eaters, you should be able to feed 15 to 20 persons.

I presume you intend to also serve potatoes, two vegetables, gravy and have a reasonably sized piece of dessert and a filling drink of sorts.

If you precede the turkey dinner with an appetizer of something slightly tart, your guests will be talkative and that prolongs the meal and saves on the entree.

Remember wine is appropriate for Thanksgiving and it helps to bring on the talk.

Soft and pleasant background music is an excellent addition

I'm guessing that you're asking how many people it would feed? We've fed 15 people on a 20 lb. turkey and still had leftovers.
