Chrissy, you don't know what you are talking about.

What type of debt is this? Contracts are 6 years....but if this is an oral or credit card debt it's only 3 years.

Look at the link below, as it also gives you the actual statutes from the law.

it would fall below Colorado. If this has been on the credit rfile, it may approximately be waiting to run out. a set corporation now probable has the debt for pennies on the dollar. even with the statute of limitations the debt is from Colorado customer regulation.

The NJ statute is 6 years. After 6 years, they cannot take you to court, unless you did something to lengthen the statute limitations. The item will continue to appear on your credit report for an additional year, but they can't take you to court for collections.

I don't think there is one. Companies will "normally" charge off your account after a certain amount of time (usually around 210 days). They can then sell your account to a separate collection company, who can then sell it to another and another and so on....In most cases it is charged off but sometimes it depends on the circumstances, like the amount of the debt. They are within their rights to sue you for the money back, unfortunately!

Atleast in California it is 7 years before it is discharged from your credit record, you can look up the information under your government website under debt I think.
