Some jelly's do not have to be refrigerated although I think they are better cold and thick. Read your jar...if it says refrigerate after opening, I would! It is all according to how the jelly is processed. It is also to thin at room temperature.

Jelly and jam will become moldy if it is not refrigerated. Look on the outside of the jar and it should say "refrigerate after opening." If you don't refrigerate it you will need to use it up pretty quickly.

Jelly is not a potentially hazardous food. It contains acids which does not aid in the growth of bacteria. Left unrefridgerated, it will allow mold to grow more quickly, but the mold can be scraped off and cause no further harm (usually). If you go through jelly quickly, then you could leave it in the cupboard with no ill effects. But for longer storage, it should be refridgerated.

I wondered the same thing because upon coming home from the grocery store and making a pb&j sandwich, I found the jelly soooo much easier to spread at room temp. I looked over the jar and didn't see any instruction to refridgerate, so I didn't. That was a month ago. Jelly's still fine!

Not if you want to make wine :)
All that fruit wants to ferment, and the sugar wants to help it. If it is canned, it should keep for several years out of the refrigerator.

It doesn't HAVE to, but the jelly becomes a little wattery if you keep it out just like ketchup and mustard. I perfer all of those things to be refrigerated.. it just tastes better that way :)

it helps if you are not going to finish it within a week or so.
there is enough sugar in there to keep it fresh for quite a while, though.
just make sure you don't lick the spoon and put it back in. then it will get moldy.

if it has been opened and it dosent have a layer of wax from being home canned then yes it should be due to the sugar will cause bacteria to form.
