No, it varies widely by state. For instance it can cost up to $10 a gallon in parts of Alaska. Even within a state it varies. We pay much more in a small town that those in the city/suburbs do.

In some States there is a law that you can't sell milk below a certain price, but I don't think there's a real fixed price on it anywhere. It varies widely even within regions within States! I'm in SoCal, and find an individual gallon of milk selling for anywhere from $3.15 to $3.85 -- even more at some expensive places. I can buy 2 gallons, however, for $3.99 to $4.99. Hmmmmmmm.......

I have noticed that the price of milk is cheaper in the states that have more abundant supply of cattle farms. I know milk is cheaper in Ohio as opposed to Virginia. I have friends who claim the price of milk in Hawaii is even higher. Also I think depending on the store, I noticed a few cent difference in the grade of milk, IE. whole milk is a few cents more than 2%.

Big price changes by state. I just moved to Wisconsin from Minnesota, not a big move, but the price of milk here I have seen as low as $1.69 gallon with a average of $2.00 gallon, in Minnesota a gallon averages $3.00 usually more. Anything dairy here is cheap compared to anywhere I've lived.

I'm positive it's different, like here it costs $3.34 for a gallon of 2% milk in the local walmart, but even down the street at Food World that same gallon is like $3.45...so if it varies from store to store in the same state, I know it's different from state to state...
