My son came home from school where they did this to other kids. They tell you to bend over and breath real deep while they hit your back and count to 20. You then raise up, hold your breath while they hold your neck. You really do pass out and you have a dream, some remember and some don't. You have no idea when you first wake up, of what happen to you. IS THIS A SAFE THING FOR KIDS IN GRADE SCHOOL TO BE DOING.

Brain damage possible, death possible, both have happened from this popular kid sport. Do what you can to educate your child. Your local emergency room can give you some information. The brain is being deprived of oxygen, and therefore you faint. After fainting, you breath normal and regain concousness, but brain damage could occur, and you might not wake up. Some haven't. Dangerous enough for young people, If you are a bit older, it's more so because of occluded arteries in your neck, this could kill you if that is the case. The artery in the neck that is being held (the carotid) is the main artery for the brain. The brain controls heart beat and breathing. Quit trying to be your childs friend, and protect him.

ok, seriously, you already know the answer to this. HELL NO it's not SAFE. Come on...

Someone is going to get hurt and someone is going to get in some serious trouble. I can't believe a PARENT would ask this question. Do you think passing out under any condition is really SAFE?

Maybe, just maybe you should either take a Parenting Class, or use a bit more common sense.

I'm not trying to be mean, but seriously, if your child is doing something to other children to make them pass out, he needs to STOP IMMEDIATELY because if my child comes home telling me another kid made them pass out, I'm coming STRAIGHT to the PARENTS.

GET SOME CONTROL OVER YOUR CHILD.

I know kids will be kids, but this is DANGEROUS! AND POSSIBLY LIFE THREATENING. This is not a game and your child needs to know this now. Making people pass out is not a form of entertainment or game or funny. STOP HIM NOW!

I know you don't like my answer, because you'll see me making your child out to be some hurtful person, but SERIOUSLY, he needs to STOP and you as a PARENT should already know this.

Why are you Even asking if it is "safe:" for kids..or anyone to be restricting oxygen to the brain to a point where you pass out ???..

.ummm..hmmmm..let me see..

.is it safe??gee..that's a tuffy..I mean really..what could go wrong or happen???

think about it..

.never..ever..go along with this..or even give the benefit of doubt to your child this is OK to do. Many kids have died playing this sort of "game"

You need to call the school, alert them of what is happening. The school needs to have a talk to the kids about how unsae it is. The parents need to watch the kids to make sure they are not doing this. ALl need to fully understand how dangerous this is.

The reason that you pass out from this is lack of oxygen to the brain, which is never a good thing. This could cause long term brain damage.

NO! We did this back in the late 80s when I was in school. I ended up hitting my head on the cement because the girl who was supposed to catch me didn't do it. My friends dad caught us doing it and had a fit. He told us about how they did it when HE was in school and how some kids ended up having a stroke or something because of it. He died. It is a really stupid thing to do.

No anything you do that cuts off circulation to the head or brain, even for a short time is not safe.

??? You have got to be one of the dumbest people alive and definitly should have your kids taken from you. If you have to ask if it is ok for someone to hit and choke your child then you definitly do not deserve to have kids.

If anyone tried this on my child I would be up no charges for what I would do to them.

Please tell us you are just trying to get points on this thing and not really that stupid.
