That sort of thing is safe;/Lots of military people do that as part of their training. Helps build muscle mass.

Suggestion: Use books rather than weights.

No, that's asking for trouble. Really. If you need to get the arms in shape do that with weights. It's the opposite of pushing your body, you are pushing weights or you can lie on your back and use canned food as weights. Repetitions are better than heavier weights. You could really hurt your back the other way and never be able to exercise again, not worth the chance. I've never seen any exercise done that way, probably for that exact reason, the back is what keeps us up and at it. Gotta keep it well and not hurt it on purpose. right? good luck.

no, its bad for your back and the weights could crash into your head, if you want something a little harder, put just your feet up on a chair and do the push ups that way, so your feet aren't supporting any weight, only your arms are

at first try doing vrtical push ups,put ur hand on the ground and ur body up high, like standing on ur hands, and push ur self up and down with ur hands only,it is the hardest most advanced way of dowing push ups,try doing 50 in that way and than u will be my reaching my level, since i can do 100 to 150 in the normal ground way,if u could do 50 in vertical postion, than come challenge me.

omg! Only if you are so strong that doing push ups without weight is mundane. Be so careful of your back, shoulders, arms. And neck.

i dont think so. The reason for this is that the skeliture structure of you body will not be able to handle the extra wieght and is more likey to colapsse. Its either that or you might mess your back up completely. My advise DONT DO IT!

i don't think this is a good idea, you will most likely strain your back.
why don't you do bench presses with the weights instead? same major muscles are worked, but less strain on your back.

Maybe, but becareful that they don't fall off and hit you. If you have anyonesmall you can have them sit on your back that's what my husband does with our daughter he asks her to sit on his back & do he does push-ups (workd like a charm)
