I think 1 year is considered a cat.
For dietary purposes, when kittens can start eating adult cat food, it's anywhere from 6-12 months.

When they are a year old. A six month old would still be a kitten. The hormones of sexuality do kick in by six months in most cats though.

I believe it would be at 1 year old it would be considered a cat. That's when you change their food to cat food instead of kitten food.

The vet tells me it's 12 months, though my male kitten at 10 months weighs about 10-12 pounds. He looks like Shamu. My female is only about 7 pounds, so we need to keep her (and therefore him too) on kitten food until they are a year old.

When it is 1 yr. old then its a cat; just like when a puppy turns 1 yr. old then its a dog.
