which could be tantamount to putting forward that all the prophets led by the Holy Spirit contained in the previous were flawed. Jesus himself in a good number of cases quoted scriptures to instruct that his practise replaced into outfitted on God's previous revelations. besides the undeniable fact that, in case you push that aspect too strongly, you've to question the apostles despatched by Jesus because they did not yet have a clean testomony. The church Jesus familiar has even more effective authority than the Bible because the church commissioned, chosen, and canonized the Bible. Moreoever, the Bible (John 21:25) says, "Jesus did many different issues to boot. If all and distinct of them were written down, i assume that even the completed international does not have room for the books which could be written." It also says ninety 2 Peter a million:2 hundred, "honestly, you should keep in mind that no prophecy of Scripture got here about by the prophet's personal interpretation." which means a instructor of Christianity is certain by the teachings of Jesus' church. Really, when you think about it, the preacher has to sound influential and important, so if he can scare the hell out of people, and control them with various beliefs (including giving MONEY), then he has done his job.
Another question might be "why do people have to scream and yell when they worship"? It's because some of them (preachers and congregation) get worked up to try to show they are holy. Emotion plays a big part in all of this, and people can be easily manipulated.
As for Osteen, I have read various things about him that are not positive. Wasn't it just 2 weeks ago when a very popular preacher was exposed for being a complete fraud? (Rev. Ted Haggard)
They know how to appeal to people and get their way, regardless of the style!

You are definitely not alone in these feelings. He makes 120 million a year. weekly collections bring in 1 million and another 3 million arrives each week in the mail from cards and letters.
He is on Forbes 400 list of richest men in America.
Not bad for a guy that didn't even go to college. and never attended a seminary. The income allowed the church which is him. to take a 30 year lease and allocate more than 90 million to renovate the former compaq center where the Houston Rockets used to play.
His weekly tv broadcast is the number one inspirational program nationally, according to his web site. But the big bucks come from books "Your best life now" No waiting on heaven for this guy. It has been a best seller and about to have another book published, the first sold over 4 million copies.
He says it isn't about the money but to date he hasn't given any of it away to the poor.

I know what your talking about, I grew up in that kind of a church enviroment too. and to this day I don't know why they do it unless it seems to them thats the only way to get the point across. My parents and grandparents always told me that it was God speaking through the preacher and he wanted them all to listen.. When I was younger I believed that but now it just doesn't seem so.

Yea I am wondering myself this question about a month ago. I think they think we are deaf and want to do some control with people.
I went to a church in IL this summer and I felt at ease with the church and the pastor is a teacher not a preacher and is more understanding and fun.
I also think it's annoying also and some gives you a headache at church.

Who says that Joel Osteen preaches the Word?
Larry King backed him into a corner when he asked Osteen whether Muslims or Hindus should also go to Heaven. His reply was that they to are such nice people and should also have a chance to go Heaven, the implication being that these people are NOT required to have a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Such un-Christianlike banter was a little as to what he doesn't preach in his Lakewood Church. Rather, he blathers about having your best life now, with a story here and a story there, a point here and a point there, with a bunch of bull in between, just like a cow!

I listen to Dr. Tony Evans on the radio a lot. I enjoy his preaching style, but I have to agree, only to a point.
When he really get to going, he loses me and I have to turn it down.
In his case, as I know no other screamers, he seems to really get into what he is teaching, he is so in tune with Gods word that it seems that he forgets he is communicating with other humans and seems to be just communicating with God.
He very well could be forgetting there are others around him as he is so involved with what he is doing.
Most small and large churches do not have such lively teacherspreachers. I rather enjoy our more toned down but very much still emotional pastor.

Such "shouting" and gesticulating and appealing to the feelings and even the prejudices of their listeners. But these can find no support in the Scriptures for their style of preaching. Such preaching is not the kind referred to by the apostle Paul when he counseled Timothy: “Do your utmost to present yourself approved to God, a workman with nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of the truth aright.”—2 Tim. 2:15.
Be that as it may, the fact remains that for preaching to produce Christians it must be based upon the Word of God. More than that, such preaching must neither be an extremely emotional appeal nor be done in an aimless, desultory manner, but it must be preaching that appeals to the reason by presenting facts and arguments logically and coherently.

i like Joel Osteen too, i don't know why preachers scream, maybe its because they get so excited about the word of God and His message to the church they can't contain it inside of themselves, they need to let it out
try going back to church again
