I just had some genetic testing done for high hemoglobin and hematicrit levels and they found that one of my parents gave me a gene that causes hemocromatosis.

I have to start donating blood to thin mine out and not eat red meat, cakes, cookies and things with fortified iron in it.

I guess I really don't have a question. I am just wondering what other people have experienced and symptoms they have gone through.

I am a "borderline" hemochromatosis. I had a liver biopsy - and after all that , the specialist told me I don't have it, but I DO have all the symptoms.

Yes you need to watch your diet.

What exactly is it that you want to know. There is plenty of resources on the internet.
