you say they add billions of dollars a year evidently you do not do research or you would know that the only economy we are getting help from them with is the Mexican economy we have illegals work tax free send the money home and you as a tax payer pay for health care for them and other social programs that will help with children housing food ect. Now where do you suppose all that money comes from (taxpayers). So the only ones that add to the economy of the United States is the legal immigrants and those we have no problem with just the illegal ones. If you did your research you would also see how the mexican government deals with immigration and then tell us all that the united states should not be hard on illegals.

. Most countries in the world, Mexico included, have immigration laws. And, they enforce them.
. When I was doing work in Mexico, I looked into becoming registered as an engineer there. In the US, we allow registration of foreign engineers any time they can demonstrate that they have sufficient education and experience. I was told in Mexico, that although they have laws to allow registration of foreign engineers, it was very rarely allowed.
. A coworker of mine was arrested on a charge of having done manual labor down there when his visa was written only for his overseeing the work of others. He had simply touched a part of the construction work to point out what needed to be done.
. So the restrictions are just as strong against US workers in Mexico. I do not see any reason for the US not to enforce its laws just as Mexico enforces theirs.
. Another person I know immigrated from Britain. His father worked under a visa in the US for many years. After applying for US citizenship, his family had to wait a few more years before they could become citizens. They followed the law and worked within the system. They are resentful that others may be granted a fast track to citizenship after having flauted the law for years. Why should it be easier and faster for law breakers to get citizenship than for those who have demonstrated their respect for the laws of this country?
. As to the claim that immigrants bring any substantial amount of money to the US; Many, possibly most, of the illegal immigrants are sending a substantial portion of their income to their homeland, where it will be spent in that country's economy. This takes wealth out of the US.
. The illegals take jobs that American will not do, but that is largely because they work at minimum wage. If the minimum wage were raised to a level suitable rate, one which does not place a worker who receives it below the poverty line, Americans WOULD take those jobs. And many illegal immigrants work for LESS than the minimum wage. This depresses the job market for those Americans who most need to improve their standard of living.
. There was a time when the US lead the world in the development of agricultural machinery. As it stands now, with the low minimum wage and the ready supply of undocumented workers, it makes no economic sense for the John Deeres and similar companies to risk investment in a new design to improve agricultural processes. The productivity which a new machine design could achieve is more readily achieved with another bus load of illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants are actually depressing the economy, not helping it.

Well when you look at the whole picture. They cost a whole lot more than they bring in. Over 40% of the money they make goes back to their home country, supporting that economy not ours. We spend far more in providing healthcare and welfare because they are sick and have no money. We pay more in taxes to support the part of the taxes that they do not pay. The only part of the economy that would be harmed would be the employers that hire and pay for illegal labor. We do not wish to lose the immigrants that are here legally and paying taxes, these people are of the most patriotic people that I have ever seen.

There were 1.7 million AMERICANS (naturalized and native) who were out of work in July of this year. There were (in 2005) 5.8 million ILLEGAL immigrants employed in the United States. These people are not paying taxes, and yet, the US is paying unemployment benefits to the LEGALLY EMPLOYABLE native adults. I would like you to look a man in the eyes and tell him that the reason he cannot support his family, and the reason his children are on food stamps is because the illegal immigrants are adding significantly to the economy. Tell him that the reason he feels like less of a man is because we need the illegals to work in order for us to remain an economic powerhouse, so he can't work. Tell him the reason he can't look his kids in the eyes when it comes time for Christmas, or birthdays because he can't get them what he wants is because he cannot afford it, is because we have to give the money he could be making to someone who is a criminal.
According to one governmental survey, American TAX PAYERS have paid hundreds of millions of dollars to give illegal immgrants medical coverage.
Households headed by illegal aliens imposed more than $26.3 billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only $16 billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of almost $10.4 billion, or $2,700 per illegal household, and these numbers have increased.
Yeah... we DEFINTELY need illegal immigrants.

Are you crazy or something???!@#$% If we continue to keep accepting "ILLEGAL" immigration, we will fall flat on our face... If illegal immigration brings so much to our economy, then why don't they take that same money & spend it in their own country & see if we fall flat on our face??? We welcome you to go home to your own country & take your money with you. We can support ourselves if illegals will stop coming over here to take all the freebies they can get their hands on. Do you have an answer for that question buddy??? Get it in your head... America is fine without illegal aliens.

Why do so many ignorant people ignore the fact that illegal immigrants don't pay taxes and leave us to foot the bill? They take more than they give.

Because even if it were true, which I seriously doubt, that doesn't impact the ruined schools or health care for our people. I don't doubt someone is making money off of it, but it isn't us, and it is ruining our children's future and our own hope of a secure retirement with available, affordable health care.

Because they don't, bring hundreds of billions of dollars, but they cost hundreds of billions in medical care, education of their kids in already crowded schools and loss of tax revenue since most of the day laborers are paid in cash that is not reported.

and they send billions into Mexico, normally don't pay taxes but use benifits
and your excuse is exactly the same they used to justify keeping slaves in the south.
Of course not, people on welfare would have jobs, they would have to pay legal wages and benifits for jobs, all helping the economy
