Homeschoolers do have a social life. Just because you aren't in school with them doesn't mean you can't see your friends outside of school.

There are also sports and clubs you can be involved with.

If you can't keep up in school, ask your school counselor for an appointment and discuss the problems you are having. Could you possibly have a learning disability? Need help being organized and having time for homework and study?

Whatever the problem is, homeschooling may or may not help. Have you discussed the problems with your parents? Are they considering homeschooling you? It's a big task for a parent to take on. I know, because I did it all the way through high school. It was worth it and I would do it all over again. But you didn't mention your parents or how they feel about it.

Do not worry about socialization. Just because you are homeschooled does not mean you never get out of the house. That is up to you!

Again, seek a conference with your school counselor and see if you issues can be resolved. Discuss all options with your parents as well. I hope you all can come to an agreement and a plan to do what is best for you.

Best Wishes,

Sue

Advantages:
1.Work at your own pace
2.Only 2-3 hrs. a day or weekly depends on your teacher.
3.Pick your own times and days to work
4.Much more free time to do hobbies and other curricular activities
5.SAFE
6.AHEAD of most public schools.

Disadvantages:
1.NOT much social, but some homeschooled kids do still interact with other kids that are homeschooled or kids they just met.
2.Bored a-lot if you don't have no hobbies or part-time job that will keep you busy.

Conclusion: I think you should go for it. If your saying you cant keep up homeschooling is just for you, in little as no time you can be ahead of your other classmated from public school. Its awesome in my opionion i'm 16/female and i've been doing this now for about 4yrs. I love it. You just got to try it for yourself to find out. Hope I helped. Good luck!

IMO NO, you should not be home schooled
Your parents would have to be in agreement with you either way
It sounds like you hate your school
That's very normal
Talk to you parents about it
Do you have a favorite teacher? Tell them what's going on with you. Tell them why you want to be home schooled
It seems to me you are having a 'grass is greener on the other side of the fence' moment
It happens to nearly everyone, we get bummed out - discouraged about our situation in life and an alternative, even one we know little about, looks better than making changes or accepting in the life we have now. We waste our time and our talent (which we never get back!!) daydreaming. I know change is hard and a lot of things appear inevitable no matter what our personal desires are. Give yourself a chance
Whatever happens DON"T QUIT SCHOOL, at least not now. stay in your school until the end of this year at least, look and see what the next grade has to offer
It will give your parents time to plan your home schooling if you all agree

i think that an advantage is understanding more what with all the 1 on 1 attention. but the disadvantage is the other people- i'm closer friends with people i see every day at school, there's the never-ending thrill of waiting to see someone the next day, and the atmosphere is exciting. i don't know what grade ur in, but imho, high school is a great experience! but, my friend was homeschooled until ninth grade, and is really smart, understands a lot. it just depends on what u prefer.

You can certainly have a social life. I know homeschooled teens who have very active social lives. If you want a social life, there is definitely one to be had.

Advantages--you get more help, can go your own pace, more flexible schedule, fewer 'school' hours since you won't be in school for 6-7 hours then have to do another 2-3 hours of homework, you won't feel the need to dress to impress others--you can be yourself more...

Disadvantages--takes a little more work to arrange social activities, but definitely not impossible; working with a parent isn't quite the same as working with a classmate; if you don't have a good relationship with your supervising parent, it could end up being horrible

Maybe look into why you CANT keep up instead. Do you really want your parents as teachers as well? I thinkthat maybe you could do more to manage your current school issues. Get extra help outside of school? join a homework club? What makes you thinkthat you can keep up with a Home schedule better than a school schedule?

Well the advantage of homeschooling is you get the full attention you want, and the disadvantage is yes definately you will lack in social experience.
