Please accept my sympathies for your loss.

It is hard when a beloved companion pet dies. Grieve your bird as you would anyone you've lost to death. Cry when you need to, think about the happy times that you had and make a donation in his memory to a bird rescue organization or plant a tree that many wild birds will enjoy as a memorial to your pal.

I try not to run right out and buy another animal to replace the one that died. Losing a pet is like losing any other member of your family -- it is a shock, it hurts and it will take time to get over his death. I bought a puppy shortly after the death of my beloved, 12-year old Irish Setter and I never fully bonded with the new little puppy because I was still grieving my comical Big Red. Give yourself a couple of months before finding a new friend and buy that buddy because you want HIM not because you're replacing a cherished friend.

Finally, visualize your faithful companion flying free above Heaven and know that he is free to be what God intended him to be.

Good luck to (((you)))!

aww I'm so sorry for your loss last oct my 12 year old cockatiel was put to sleep and I'm still grieving, just remember the good times you had with it and look at pictures and laugh at some of the funny memories, that's what I'm doing and it seems to help somewhat. I miss BJ though and you and your family have my sympathy, and hope when the time is right you get another bird.

Get another 1! I raised them for years and a handfed Cockatiel is a great pet and when they learn to talk they are even more fun to have. I'm sure if you get another 1 you will feel better.

I'm so sorry for your loss, it must be hard.

Like everyone always says, just remember the good times you had. Don't try to rush in to trying to replace, give it some time. Gradually you won't be as affected by the death, but he will always have a special place in your heart.

Goodluck

My sister's white cockaatiel died two weeks ago and she is still upset. after 12 years I think it will take her along time to get over his death.

So I know thatait will be hard for you the next few weeks especially when the time of day he would sing or you wll carry him around. good luck

Maybe you can buy another Cockatiel. It won't be the same though. :/

Tell yourself that he is in better place without pain and free to do anything he wants to. He goes eveywhere with, so you are never alone.
