You could read this poem:
Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning's hush,
I am the sweet, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

I'm sorry to hear for your loss, it is always hard.
I had to do this for a friend a few years back.
Tell the stories...that will help with everyone else being able to remember special times. I was thanked more for that afterword then any thing else.
Your friend will live on in your memories and how you live your life as well because people affect others.
I do remember saying "Right now heaven feels so far away" a quote from an Offspring song. It really made/makes sense to me because I can't wait to see him again.

You could talk about the things they've done in their life that affect people/things/events today. This shows how their actions carry on and affect others, even though they have passed on.
I am very sorry for your loss.

Have you considered writing a poem? That's what I did when I spoke at my friend's funeral. It's so hard when you feel such an attachment for the person, that's why I put my words into rhyme and called it, "A New Angel Dwell's in Heaven."
Sorry for your lose.

I am sorry that you lost your friend. Christians believe that they will go to be with Jesus in Heaven when they die. We have this little quote that we use when we loose a Christian brother or sister. "He has been Promoted to Glory."
