You can but you will have to change the orifice. This is the part with the hole that releases the gas. It will have to be bigger for natural gas because it has less btu's per cubic foot. Natural gas will not save you any money, but it may be more convenient. Talk to a plumbing and heating professional to get the right part.

Yes you can, you have to get a bigger jet,one for n. gas not propane or if you want ,a set of tip cleaners for a cutting torch and open the propane jet hole 3 times bigger, natural gas pressure is 4 lb. and propane is 12 lb.. To get the same flame you need to do this. Plus you do not need the propane regulator.

it is a lot more explosive then propane, gasoline, natural gas. hydrogen it is explosive in air mixes of 3% to 82% at pressures greater then 14.5 psi it is explosive without oxygen. not a gas to mess around with. when i was younger i used to sent manhole covers flying in the air with carbide. one time i broke the windows on a house 1/4 mile away from the blast. later as a firefighter/EMT i went on a call where 2 guys filled balloons with acetylene and put them in there car. the static electric from the balloons rubbing together set them off with the guys in the car. the to guys survived the car did not, it blew all the window out, raised the roof 6 inchs, bent the doors so bad we had to cut them open. the guys now wear hearing aids. they were arrested for having a destructive device. plus there car insurance company would not pay for the car. you want something like that in your house.

I can't recommend it to others, though I admit that if that was all I had on hand, I would try it myself. Propane is cleaner and burns w/o taste or poison, as opposed to natural gas. Propane is cheaper too...Watch KOTH and you'll learn all about it. It's on FOX right now...
