Scientists unravel DNA of 38,000-year-old Neanderthal
"...their findings indicate that Neanderthals diverged genetically from the ancestors of modern humans about 400,000 years ago." http://news.independent.co.uk/world/science_technology/article1987622.ece
DAMN THESE SCIENTIFIC CONSPIRACIES!! BET YA THESE SCIENTIST WERE ALSO THE PEOPLE WHO DID 911 AND BURIED HOFFA!
Heres DNA proof that Nederthal were NOT HUMANS, even though they looked very much like humans and had a BIGGER CRANUIM CAPACITY THAN HUMANS!
So, to recap, there is ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTION THAT THIS SPECIES WAS NOT PRIMATE OR HOMO-SAPIEN, THATS A FACT.
CONCLUSION: More evidence heaped upon the massive stack of evidence proving evolution is true. Here we have a species, very human-like but having diverged from humans 400,000 years ago.
Neanderthal: "1200-1750 cm³ skull capacity (10% greater than modern human average)" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neanderthal

The theory of Evolution is a theory. It has not been proven.

I'm with you, Only the Neanderthal skull volume is not synonymous of intelligence. Cortex surface is. While a bigger volume helps in containing more cortex, it's not axiomatic that bigger volume equals larger cortex. Neanderthal used their brains for some other perceptions than humans. For example, many systems related to smell and sound are shrinking to make space for the cortex. We don't need it as much as... say a wolf or a leopard. As far as I know, Neanderthal larynx was underdeveloped compared to ours and there is serious doubt as to if they were able to speak. Now this doesn't infirm what you said: proven evolution... good one

I read the article, it doesn't prove anything. Here's a portion of it.
"This is still less than 0.03 per cent of the entire Neanderthal genome but it nevertheless represents a significant achievement given the age of the bone and the amount of DNA contamination from bacteria and human handling. "Clearly we're at the dawn of Neanderthal genomics," said Professor Paabo. "There's no question in years to come that we will be able to sequence a Neanderthal genome. It is possible to use this process to go after the entire genome.
"We'll be able to use it to see whether Neanderthals contributed to the genetic variation of humans today, and whether early humans interacted and contributed to the genetic variation of the Neanderthals. Sequencing the Neanderthal genome offers the unique possibility to identify genetic changes specific to the genome of anatomically fully modern humans."
In other words, they don't have any evidence that Neanderthals couldn't breed with other humans. Just like a Beagle and a German Shepherd are two different looking type of dogs there were a group of humans that looked different. You could compare the skeletons of a 7 foot Zulu and a 5 foot Asian and come to the same conclusions they have come to so far.

They have bigger skulls because they klived longer and the human skull will continue to grow in circumference, proving that people before the flood did live to be 600-900 yrs old. Dating methods don't work because there is more radioactive carbon 14 than there was when God made the world 6400 years ago, making it look likeWhoever died back then has lost a lot of carbon 14 proving they are old, when actually they never had that much carbon to begin with.

I would check that out if I were you. There has already been some monkey business with Neanderthals in the past. I think this latest bunch has forgotten already. They do that a lot.

NPR's report stated they were 95% identitical to us in their DNA so far, there was no evidence of mixing between them and humans although somewhere they had a common ancestor . . .
Does it bother me? No, the scriptures doesn't say on the 8th day Adam and Eve were driven out of the garden. They may have spent millions of years in that garden.

This should be in biology and has nothing to do with religion, no offense meant but let the know-nothings post on evolution here, us sane folks should just counter their more lunatic rantings.
