Shyness is adoarable but if it's keeping you from socializing and getting out there to meet people it is hard. I was shy once. Age and a lot of experience has changed all that. I would practice things to use in conversation, now I know this sounds silly but it can help you. they p[ractice roles in movies right? So, why not this in real life. Think of questions that might have someone elaborate on themselves, like: How are you? Did you work today? Where is it that you are working? Things like that. OH, so what school do you go to or what are you thinking of doing when you graduate or whatever. You can just write the questions down and repeat thm to yourself so when the time comes, you will feel comfortablw asking them. people like talking about themselves, believe me. Then if it's a girl and you like her say something nice about her clothing or her hair or something to make her know you like her or at least her clothes. It is just a matter of getting out there. Join a club or a group that you have an interest in. Maybe a singles group at church or at another orginization. good luck. I know it is painful, I used to turn red if anyone spoke to me and wouldn't say sh*t if I stepped in it. So, you will change with time also. But, do make extra effort. If someone asks you to go someplace where there will be other people, go. If you are clinically an intervert there are medications that help that too. So, don't let it ruin your life. If you have to see a Dr. the do it and get out there. Life is too short. Alcohol is not the answer, then you meet someone and become an alcohiolic and turn into a real looser. That won't help the real problem, just masks it.

You can't just become UNshy. This is a part of you--you can be more outgoing, but you're always going to be shy in some sense. I was shy until I was 18, when I slowly grew out of it.

If you really are desperate, try stepping out of your comfort zone more. Try new things--don't be afraid of rejection.

Brea the ice, and try to make new friends. Try to make freinds that have no idea of your personality and start off your new friendship acting like a non-shy guy!...after a while you will get used to it

Start small by going up to fast food counters and asking for more soda. Once you master that move on to something else. Then it gets easier as time goes on. I used to be shy, not no more!

Try to find a subject you two have in common. Like me, there are whole bunch of gamers in my school so I check up on the recent Game Informer to find these to talk about with them.

I used to be one of the shyest people you could meet. so i began putting myself in situations that i knew i wouldnt like. like going to parties and going up to people and just talking to them. i even signed up for a play just so i could get over the fear of being seen by people and possibly looking studid. Mainly its self esteem now that i am older i have the mind set that no one can stop me and i love me and you should to.
just be yourself and forget what people say it does not matter anyways.

Good Luck
