i have to wake up at 2 45 and i usally stay up that late every night. but its not as siple as going to bed earlyer...id have to go to bed at 7 to get a good sleep.... i need detailed answers. how do i get to sleep fast, stay asleep and be able to funtion in the morning...I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE ANY PILLS

get out the dictionary or bible.
i read both off and on to get to sleep quickly. they bore me to sleep. i read in bed with a small battery light so i don't have to get up to shut off the light.

take a long warm shower around 530.

eat a fairly big but not to large meal of turkey later in the evening. like around 6.

go to the bathroom before you get in bed. don't drink to much before you go to bed.

set your alarm clock before you get in bed.

i don't like pills either as you can tell. lol.

I got a paper route in grad school and had to wake at precisely this time (except Sundays, then it was before 2!) every day. For 15 months while I worked full time. And I'm a night owl.

You will have trouble if you stress, but if it becomes a habit you will be okay. It took me about a week to be able to fall asleep between 7-8 with no problems. Meantime, stay relaxed. Stay OFF the computer after 6pm and away from the TV. Take a warm bath. Drink chamomile tea (or Sleepytime) double strength. Spray real lavender spray on your bedding. I like to read childrens' stories (like Laura Ingalls Wilder) to get my mind off of the problems of the world and relax, to get to sleep.

You will have to figure it out yourself. If it's just one day, tough it out. Try to go to bed an hour earlier than your usual time and don't worry about it. If you need to make it a habit, maybe you'll be able to make it work, maybe you won't. One thing that helped me is that I am a regular meditator. I meditated every morning for 20 minutes after waking (at 2:45), and another 20 minutes in the evening before dinner. It helps a lot. Sometimes meditators need less sleep.

Good for you for not taking pills. If you want to try an herb, try valerian, but go easy at first. Get the capsules, you can make tea from the root but it tastes like poo :-P.

Eat one hour before you go to bed. No heavy exercises. Take a hot shower. Eat banana and drink milk. Avoid coffee and alcohol. Then put on your soft music and curl up in bed. See that your bed is comfortable, no high pillows, every angle of the body should be supported, especially back, angle between two feet and abdomen area. ( Researchers said these things can induce sleep.)

try to sleep early, trick u mind might turn less light in the room during closer to sleep time. when u wake up not sure if u driving, if u do drive turn on the driver light, more light contriuu u wake up time can somehow trick u might is morning time not Zzz. also most important before u sleep make sure u not disturnt aroundu bedroom like a tv, pc etc.. take a warm shower and sex does help sleep.

Take a nice warm bath or drink a soothing tea that is susposed to relax you.Go to bed when you feel tired and you think its early enough, but don't concentrate on trying to go to sleep.

take a quick walk or lightly exercise 2 hours before you go to bed will help. listen to soft music. read something you like it will relax you. keep good thoughts in your head think about nice things.

Mix 3 ounce of honey in cold water. Drink it. You will get to sleep in no time.

warm milk listen to relaxing music for 20 mintues and you will fall asleep fast
