It all depends on what is wrong with your eyes. If you have macular degeneration, like me it will never get better.

Each situation is unique to the individual. For example, I've been wearing glasses since I was 4, and my vision slowly improved and now is getting worse due to genetics and getting older.
If you are not wearing your glasses very consistently (almost always when you are awake) this may be contributing to the deterioration of your eyesight. Glasses should, with consistent use, help improve your vision, but sometimes it just doesn't work that way.
WebMD is a great source for many medical issues, and I constantly refer to it when I have a question or concern. I have provided the link to their "Understanding Vision Problems" article.

Everyone is different. I started wearing glasses when I was 12 and have only had three vision changes, two of them during my pregnancies. I still have the same prescription now as I did when I first got glasses. I bounce between glasses and contacts and I wear my glasses for about 3 days before my eye exam and I always get the same results. I have been wearign contacts and glasses for 20 years.

My optometrist said that usually, vision stops deteriorating when you get in about your late 20s, maybe 30s. My therapist said he had terrible eyesight and it kept getting worse but it leveled off and he's had the same prescription for a while. He's in his mid-30s.
Too bad--I've been getting a lot of headaches lately, and my eyesight has gotten worse (I just got these glasses about a year ago.) I hate it. I'm worried they're just going to put frames around Coke-bottle bottoms and tell me that's my new prescription. I'm going to the eye doctor this Friday.
Hope they're right, for both our sake!

You need to have your eyes checked again. 20 in each eye would have been "normal" as in 20/20 vision; so the last time your vision was checked, it wasn't far off. Still, that was six months ago. If it's getting worse, you need to do something to correct your vision. Not correcting it could cause you strain to see and make it worse. I know airline pilots who wear glasses or contacts. Get your eyes checked again. Vision is too precious to take chances.

around 40 your distance vision stops changing much and then your near vision starts to go to pot, leading to the dreaded bifocals.
