It's possible for them to get worms even if they have protection - mine get Revolution and Baby had worms about 2 months ago. My vet said they can eat a flea even if it doesn't actually bite them, and that's what gives them the worms.

Actually, most people don't go through the worming process correctly. You first take a stool sample to the vets. They decide what kind of worming is needed and give the medication...usually an initial dose, followed by another in a week or so. This should be followed up with a stool sample in the future. Some worms have a life cycle. They reside in different parts of the cat at different stages of their life. The last stage is usually the intestine. If the first worming doesn't get all those critters, a second worming cycle is in order. At least that is how my vet does it.

Depends on the worms. If the cat was wormed once for the round worm which they are all born with it needs to be wormed again to kill the worms from the eggs from those worms, so it takes at least two wormings for them and hopefully they aren't re infested. good luck. The vet may just sell you the pill that takes care of all worms.

Yes, they need regular checkups, with cultures done to check for worms, and more meds for worms if they are found. The worms usually come from fleas.

I would not think so, however, you may want to drop off a stool check at your vets to check your kitty for parasites. Good Luck.
