If Truffles can be considered a "dish", then I'm going to say that Saffron is the most expensive - it is the most expensive Spice in the world...

I have absolutely nothing to back this up but personal experience, but I'm going to go with Kobe beef. I had it in Tokyo and don't even want to think about how much it cost. That said it was far and away the most amazing meal I have ever had. I could have died after eating that and been ok... which was nice since I did almost croak after I got the bill.

I can make up a mighty good Kraft Mac-N-Cheese that I can wine and dine you with for $1,000,000 a plate... or you can go to Italy and dine on Truffles. Recently, one was sold for over $100,000 to some guy in Asia. Sad thing is... it's a glorified mushroom.
