the spyware doctor has done more for me than the mcafee and i don't see the need in both and having both is making my computer slower.

the reason i have spyware doctor is because it was the only thing that removed a qualitycodec file from my programs. all the others named did not do that for me after installing and running, in fact they didn't even detect it so spyware doctor has my vote for all that disagree with it.

Neither is any good in my opinion.

I have E Trust, and System Mechanic, and they work fine for me.

Each is specialized in something different. Spyware doctor is good for spyware detection and McAfee is good for virus detection.
They are both needed.
If it makes your PC slow, it could be the immunization part of Spyware Doctor. You could turn that off and just do a search regularly.

There are 4 basic things everyone should minimally have to be on the internet :Good Antivirus, a Spyware or Ad-Aware program, Firewall, and all Windows updates , if your using Windows. So yes, at least obtain -and UPDATE- all of these things.

i would have adaware for spyware/malware protection.
works alot better :)
mcafee is good protection for anti-virus but has some drawbacks, as long as you keep it up todate you should be fine.
by the way spydoctor is not a virus scanner so best keep mcafee, and get adaware.

Spyware can collect many different types of information about a user. More benign programs can attempt to track what types of websites a user visits and send this information to an advertisement agency. More malicious versions can try to record what a user types to try to intercept passwords or credit card numbers. Yet other versions simply launch popup advertisements. While some forms of spyware can certainly be considered malicious, some on the other hand certainly are not, and are more passive in nature by just watching, observing, and collecting information.

I suggest you use a good spyware resource to delete the spyware present on your computer such as :

if it helps kindly remember me in your voting!.. cheers!
