They are easier to tell apart if they are little. The male has two dots and that stands for something. As they get older they are harder to tell apart. The male will have a few months where he has no real evidence like ball* to tell what he is so, you have to look very carefully. The female looks a lot like that too. So, if you see two spots, small bumps or anything like that it is probably a male. Sorry to not be able to help more. Cats don't like their stuff to be touched so it's hard to see. Good luck. Why do some people even get on here...they are sooo rude, like they never even had cats, they are very hard to tell apart at a certain age and cats don't let you just look at their stuff like some of these people on here think they do. You are a bunch of loosers, go to a chat room if you want to be so hateful. This is a forum for asking and answering not, insulting and demeaning peoples questions. The only stupid question is one that you don't ask because of people that try to mnake you feel stupid and not the question.

It's not that hard to tell, although when they are very young it's somewhat hard because everything is so small.

Pull up the tail of the cat. A female cat will have a small slit right underneath the anus, almost like it is a smaller one attached beneath it.

A male will only have the anus, and what appears to be two small puffs right underneath. Sometimes these are hard to see, especially when they are young. Also, the space between the urinary tract and the anus is wider than with a female cat.

Just to safe, take a look at this picture of a male and female kitten, and you can compare to finally resolve the debate:

If you're still wondering, you could always ask a vet :)

As you know, the most accurate method is to check out the area "under the tail". This might sound silly, but... female cats have two holes right underneath their tail. The upper one is for droppings, while the lower one is for peeing, reproducing, etc. Check it out - if the cat doesn't have the two holes, and has a little "thing" hanging between the legs, then it's definitely a male!

Lift the cat up and look around its rear area. A boy cat will have testacles, a girl can't won't. Even when boys have been neutered they still have an empty little sac back there. Take a look at the link I provided, it gives details...If you're still uncertain, I'd say take the cat to the vet.

The male cat is the one on top.

Usualy by the balls hanging between his legs even with nuetered cats there's still a hint of ball sac there even though they've been removed. Its pretty easy to tell

Two holes under the tail = female. One hole and round furry things or the remnants thereof = male.

Look under the tail. If you see two little bumps, side by side, just under the anus, it is a male. If you see a small vertical slit, it is a female.

A male has those two little bumps under its tail which are known as testicles.
