Not enough information to even begin to guess what is wrong.
Do they appear correctly on the camera LCD?
Define distorted. Wavy? Wrong color? Backwards? Upside down? Blurry? Inverted? Out of focus? On an acid trip?
HP camera? Any particular model? They do make more than one.
What operating system Windows XP, Windows 98, Linux?
How are you transferring them? USB cable? Card reader? Telepathy?
What software is displaying the pictures? Paint? Irfanview? Adobe Photoshop? Gimp?
Nevermind, I bet your camera is broke........

you might not have set your camera quality to the very best or Normal it could be that its on a lower setting. Check you camera settings.

If you're using a card, it could be going bad or it's just a lousy camera.
