Your vet is a brain dead newt. Your cat is NOT going to take it out himself! In fact, if it just comes out of itself, your cat can get infected very, very easily. My cat had pancreatitis & with the help of my GOOD vet, I treated her at home. My kitchen was like a hospital room; l had six different syringes I had to keep sterile to feed & medicate her through the catheter, & then flush with tepid water each time-a 24/7 vigil. & EVERY TIME after this routine, I had to remove the bandage around the catheter & sterilize the area. Even THEN, it once got infected--we don't know how--& antibiotics had to be added to everything else. As she got better, I could tell because her tummy was rejecting the catheter feeding, & she started nibbling at the dry food I kept out--always FRESH--& it was absolutely NECESSARY to have the catheter removed IN HOSPITAL. Your vet shouldn't treat a GNAT. Please, please don't believe what the vet said! SEE ANOTHER VET & CHECK OUT HIS/HER RECORDS & REFERENCES FIRST. A vet literally KILLED one of my cats through negligence. This is so serious I'm going to worry all night! The use & reason for the catheter in your case is different than mine, but there's no way it should be removed but by a COMPETENT VET at the hospital. I'm going to keep a Watch List on this; when/if you choose a Best Answer, I hope you add a comment to tell us you've done the right thing!

Do what??? YOur vet should not have sent your cat home with a catheter! It is NOT a good idea for a cat to pull out a catheter, it can cause more harm! Ask your vet to hospitalize your cat until it can urinate without the catheter then take it home. If your vet won't do that then ask your vet for an e-collar( a plastic cone that goes around the neck) this will keep the cat from pulling the catheter out

What?!?!?!? Please take your cat to a different vet!! It is common for cats to get crystals and occasionally get blocked due to buildup of crystals in the urethra, so the vet does have to put a catheter in once the cat is unblocked to prevent it from blocking again.......but a cat with a catheter should be hospitalized and not sent home to take it out himself! Most cats are fitted with an e-collar to prevent them from being able to reach the catheter, because allowing a cat to remove his own catheter can do a lot of damage which leads to more unecessary pain for kitty and expense for you. I am truly appalled that your vet would even suggest this. I hope, at least, he explained to you the reasons that cats get crystals and get blockages??? If not, PLEASE go to a vet that can give your kitty the proper care, and you, the proper information!! If you don't know how to prevent crystals (usually a dietary change) then they will just reoccur and your kitty will suffer again. Good luck!!!

that's extraordinary that the vet would deliver your cat residing house with the catheter nevertheless in. would desire to have had a plugged cat that would desire to no longer pass to the bathing room. often we take it out on the place of work and shop the cat yet another day to ascertain that we solved the subject. we've cats pull them out each and every of the time yet they're sutured in, ouch. We continuously finally end up putting it back in. Watch your cat after he pulls it out to ascertain that the urine issues are solved, stable success.

Listen to your VET, it seems god alfull but it does work, You mite want to get a topical antibiotic for the cat to prevent a infection in the mean time. and use one for cats not people, the cat is going to leek it and injest it that way.
