I just purchased an LCD television. The picture quality on the lower channels is grainy. I was told it could be because of the demands on my cable. I have a digital box (on other tv), high speed internet as well as I use VOIP for my phone. Would a booster be recommended? Thanks

If the picture is grainy on the lower channels and the upper channels are fine, then an amplifier will not help. Normally lower frequencies are caused by a coax connector that is not screwed all the way in, or a "sucked out connector." This is caused when a connector is pulled loose on a cable, causing the center conductor to go into the connector.
If a connector is not screwed on all the way, higher frequencies can jump the gap from connection to connection, but lower frequencies cannot due to their shorter waveform.
Make sure that your cable connectors are screwed all the way down on your splitter and your equipment such as your VCR and your TV.
Use a 7/16 wrench to tighten your connectors on your splitter(s) but never use a wrench on your VCR or TV.
