Well, it is better for you to go (not to call) to the Embassy, usualy they are working from morning 9 to 12. Take with you some documents, such as passport, your permission to stay in UK, documents about your bank account, invitation from Italy (if any), your ticket etc... Then ask for get a visa "asap", and I think, they will suggest you. Yes, it is usualy takes 3 days, but in urgent cases like your, they can make it faster, or, make an appointment earlier, than 14 Dec. Don't worry, you will get it. Come to Italy and enjoy your stay!
