I am only someone who knows the suspect soon to be defendant. They are flying me to another state and paying for my hotel and travel expenses. What is going to happen? I'm scared.

I am no way involved in the crime they are investigating. Seriously

You are to be a witness, a grand jury will question you about what you know, you are required to answer them unless you are involved in the crime you are testifing about.
( and if they give you imunity, you are still required to testify)

Answer all questions truthfully, admit to this connection and dont worry, a grand jury doesnt really do much. Its over rated. A majority of cases going to grand jury go to trial anyway. When you get chosen for proper jury duty, ie the trial, then maybe you have to worry.

they are going to question you about your relationship with the suspect/defendant and whatever crime they suspect has happened. they will also most likely issue you a gag order preventing you from talking about the interrogation session.
