No, I was working one night when a patient who had just passed appeared to two of my coworkers in the room she had been in before being transferred to another room. They took off running. I left the room I was in to join them as they entered her new room and found her dead in her bed.
Here's a good story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenbrier_Ghost
Now for an even more modern one, a good friend was the night nursing supervisor at the old Huntington Hospital. She had started at the hospital while Edith was still alive. She told me about Edith haunting the hospital with an physician. Patients would tell their nurse that a nurse dressed like the "old fashioned" nurse would come to their bedside with a physician and explain the results of their tests. They would tell the patient not to worry that everything was going to be OK. She would get called because the nurses would search the chart and not be able the test results since the test had not been read yet and had a patient who seemed to know medical things they did not have the background to know. She said, you knew the patient would die in the next 24-48 hours because they had been visited. When the test results came after the patient's death, they always confirmed what the patient had been told.
She talked about the cold feeling leading you to a patient in trouble. She also had trouble keeping younger nurses since they would quit when they encountered what they thought was Edith. She said she only saw Edith round a corner once and when she went into the room, she was not present.
So is Edith a ghost or a Garden Angel now? I know she supposedly haunts the new hospital at the same location. I visited a friend who committed herself. When I left, my elevator went to the wrong floor and when I stepped out I felt that cold feeling . . . so that is my closest encounter. Being a pysch hospital, I returned to the elevator and to the right floor.

comment: Father K, would that book make a good Christmas gift for someone who likes ghost stories?

I disagree with the people who say that there aren't demons. I know what my eyes have seen, and I am clothed in my right mind. There are fallen angels on earth who have been kicked out of heaven. I won't even say I was haunted. Because whatever the devil tries my word tells me "that no weapon that is formed shall prosper." Only way people can see those things is through their spiritual eyes.
It doesn't mean that you're crazy if you experience those things. But it's nothing to play with. It should be rebuked, and you have to stand on the word of God. You shouldn't even inquire about those things, because being haunted is not from God. It is simply the devil trying to run somebody crazy. It is a mental demon, and it should be rebuked.
Only the power of God can deliver from evil and torment. A spirit is a ghost. Look in a Greek/Hebrew dictionary. There's no separating the two. The Holy Spirit is also referred to as the Holy Ghost. So that right there should tell you there are demons, why would there be a need to differentiate "Holy in ghost?"

Once a ghost turned on my typewriter. (Does anyone know what a typewriter is anymore???) There was no power surge or anything. The typewriter turned on and did a carriage return. I was working in an historic building up on the third floor alone. It was pretty freaky. I refused to go up there alone after that.
Oh, but I should clarify that I don't consider myself a "spiritual" person.

WHEN I WAS 6 OR 7 I SAW A GHOST. IT WAS A WOMAN. I DID NOT RECOGNIZE HER AND STILL CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHO SHE WAS. I WAS SPENDING THE NIGHT WITH MY GRANDMOTHER AND WHILE LAYING IN BED I OPENED MY EYES (FOR SOME REASON) AND THERE SHE WAS, AT THE FOOT OF THE BED. IT SCARED ME AND I SHUT MY EYES REAL FAST. WHEN I OPENED THEM AGAIN, SHE WAS GONE. I WISH I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SO SCARED SO I COULD HAVE WATCHED HER.
