I am not a very good golfer but when I do actually play good, in my terms, is when I am thinking about the next shot I have to make, not the slice I just hit. I tell my pitchers this: go pitch for pitch, forget about the one you just threw because this next one is more important than the last.
Same thing in golf, if you miss the fairway off the tee, you have to make the next shot better than the last or else it just snow balls. You are only as good as that next shot you make. If all your shots are good then you will see the results in the end and the frustration won't be there. Shot for shot, forget about what just happened, the current shot is more important.

Golf is a very mental sport. You need to hit each shot without thinking about anything else. It can't matter if you need a perfect shot to win the hole or if you just had a bad shot, each shot should be independent of others. How do you stop thinking about bad shots? Practice, practice, practice. Try to remember that you are out there to have fun. Try relaxation techniques. Try to have a routine that you do on each swing regardless of everything else. Maybe that will take your mind off things.
Much easier said than done.

I played a beautiful course one time when I was on vacation in South Carolina and Me and my buds took plenty of pictures. One friend took a picture of me after a 280 yd drive right down the center of the fairway (I bogeyed the hole) but the shot was memorable. I take that picture with me to every round of golf. I put in in the window of the golf cart and when I hit a bad one i take a minute and remember that great shot i had. Golf is a very mental sport and if you let one bad shot get in your head the rest of the day will refelct that one bad shot

Remember that you take each shot one hole at a time, and try to take all negatives out so that you can concentrate instead of anticipate. Golf is a thinking game, and your only competition should be between your ears. Also take up Buddhism it will calm you nerves and teach you discipline.

It's just a game, it's not everything (unless your're a PGA professional, in which case you should just ignore the rest of what I have to say). The point of the game is to have fun. You will go good (occasionally great), and you will do bad. It's just like everything else in life. Just remember its a game, and to have fun.

anger management training always helps too
