While you are typing, you are in memory. Nothing is saved until you save it with File, Save As and give it a name. When I open a new document with the intention of typing a letter or whatever, I immediately name and save it. Then, every 10 minutes or so, you can click File, Save and continue to type. If your PC goes off, at least what you typed to that point will be on disk.

Another option is to create a backup copy of your files with Tools, Options, Save tab. In this way, in Word, every file saved more than once will have a backup copy. It will then be up to you to delete the backups when you feel comfortable doing so.

If you used Word or somethiing similar, look at the automatic backup files or type in "document recovery" in the help section for the links that you need to get the file back.

only if u r lucky ..... if u have used MS word, open the word again, usually it saves file in temp folder and it might pop up. Another way, search for files select all files created in last one day, see if u c if it has saved in temp folder.
