Did I name the right Mary?

Let me tell you why it would be upsetting: it will prove that he was more HUMAN afterall; He'd be less divine in your eyes. And we don't want that now, do we?

Btw, I watched an A&E program about this 'theory' 5 or so years ago. Da Vinci Code? never read it nor seen the movie.

ereyes: Catholics don't believe that Jesus and Mary Magdelene were married. Wherever you get your information, you need to replace it with credible sources.

It wouldn't change my belief. If Jesus was both fully human and fully devine, then I would expect the fully human portion of him to have been in love.

He still would have died on the cross and rose on the 3rd day. THAT's what Christianity is about. Not whether or not Jesus was married.

It actually would answer a lot of questions. Men back then got married at an early age...what was Jesus doing at 30 unmarried? The community must have been thinking there was something strange about that.

There is a lie perpetrated by means of the Catholic church that to ensure that whatever or any person to be holy, it have to be a Virgin. Thus the celibacy in Preists and Nuns. The perception stems from the thought that the forbidden fruit of the lawn of Eden was once Sex, and that marriage is an tuition for the susceptible, in order that they are able to devote the sin inside unique barriers that make it adequate. As a outcome of those fake teachings, they needed to educate that Jesus certainly not married or even, probably, regulate the phrases of scripture as a way to help that. Because the early Catholic church believed that marriage might have made the Savior much less holy, the complete international's philosophies had been altered. Look at what it did to the Victorian generation. There quite isn't any means for us to grasp the reality anymore of the Messiah's marital repute, however Jewish culture and research might look to claim that He was once. You will nonetheless uncover many Christians, nonetheless, that consider it was once a specific probability. I am LDS, and even as we certainly not claim to grasp by hook or by crook, neither is there any professional doctrine approximately it, many individuals consider that it was once possible, readily seeing that we regard the tuition of marriage as a sacred tuition, fundamental for salvation, and we regard intercourse as a strong reward for use withing the bonds of marriage.

I am a Christian, and I would not be upset if that were a proven fact, however it is not a proven fact, (so far) it is a theory, and those are a dime a dozen, kind of like opinions, everyone has one. If someone was trying to make money off of "proving" that, I would seriously doubt their findings.

Yes, you named the correct Mary.

Personally, I don't think his sexuality or lack there of affects His ministry or role as our Savior. I don't believe He was gay since He frequently quoted other prophets and lived according to Jewish customs although He came to fulfill the law. I don't believe every detail of Christ's life was recorded or necessary for us to know so no matter what is ever discovered about his sexuality--it would not change my beliefs.

if jesus really got married to mary magdalene, there would be no christianirty or christians to answer the question.

jesus did not come to earth to get married. he came to die for our sins... that is what he did... no one would have followed him 2000 years ago..unless he died, then rose again and then gave a commission to spread the gospel

Jesus was the Lamb of God, the perfect blood sacrifice to appease God for the sins of all of us.

By perfect, that meant without sin.

God gave us marriage so we wouldn't burn with lust. Jesus did not lust, He was perfect, and had no need to marry.

And Jesus was not a homosexual, as so many of you allude to, because back then men kissed men as a traditional method of greeting. Some cultures still do this, and are not homosexual.

I am a Christian and no, it wouldn't bother me a bit. He gave up his life for me, He AT LEAST deserved to be happy with a good woman.
