Yep, this is the age for the budding hairstylist! Mine (also almost three) just did her bangs last weekend. (Well, I'm still not positive if it was her, or her older sister who did the actual cutting....) About all you can do at the extreme point your daughter took it is take her to a hairstylist to see what they can do. Take some pictures too... one day it will be funny to look back on! Enjoy your toddler's creativity! LOL!

I am so sorry, but I am laughing right now. Kids will be kids, as everyone else is saying! My best friend called me a few days ago and asked me to please come and take her to the doctor..she had the flu! When I got to her house, her 3 year old, Billy, had gotten into mom's office (an off limits room in the house) and not only found scissors, but INK PENS. Seems he's aspiring to be a total body tattoo artist! What makes it even worse is that we live in Florida, and it was very warm that day, so we couldn't dress him in body covering clothes. Here the three of us walk into the doctor's office...we must have been a sight...she looked really really bad in sweat pants and a t shirt and, well, LOOKED like she had the flu, and Billy, with his self-inflicted hair cut AND wearing his artist's canvas on his skin! Everyone sorta shied away from us. Can't imagine why!? I made sure everyone heard me a couple of times talking with Billy calling myself Aunt Ree...which is what he calls me. I now have grandchildren, so I"ve experienced my fair share of "oh ohs"!
I've raised 6 kids and this will be one of those moments you'll remember forever! I hope before you do anything else, you get out the camera so that you can remind her of this in years to come! Just try to even it out a little, I wouldn't even spend the money for a hair cut until it grows out some....and it will! Good luck!

I think about 95% of kids do this at some point. Don't make a big deal over it, it's just hair and it will grow back. Buy her some cute hats till it's long enough to do something with. Luckily my son hasn't...yet...
My niece did it right before her preschool pictures were taken, now she's 15 and we laugh about it.

well..be very glad she didn't hurt herself with the scissors. You might want to think about putting things like that in a locked cupboard. I'm sure the last thing you want it to be making a trip to Er because she drank some poison, or cut herself !..As for her hair..it's only hair..not big deal..it will grow back..just take this as a lesson well leaned to lock things aways.

And I bet you were startled at first then had a good laugh about it right! lol. Unfortunatly, kids will be kids. Now she knows the effects of what scissors do to hair.
It will be ok. Just take her to the stylist and im sure they will be able to do some cute style for her!

Wow, sounds like you had a really bad day! Maybe you can even it out on the top and sides - then just wait for it to grow back.

Sounds like a little pixie cut is in order. Just reading this makes me worry that my daughter could get that idea. She's also been slow to grow hair.

kids will be kids, just thank god she didn't cut herself, or worse stab herself. I bet you were pretty scared, and now mad huh? I also agree to go to the hair dresser and see what they can do about it. Or I hope she looks good in hats! Oh kids, so cute even when they've been naughty!

Don't make a big deal about her hair but do explain to her that she could have gotten hurt. I always tell my kids to ask before they take something. It's a good habit to have and protects them too.

If you know how to cut hair then try to fix it yourself if not then take her somewhere and they should be able to fix it and make it look nice.....
