It is extremely bothersome! Here is a web site where you can go to be put on the "do not call" list www.donotcall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222

Someone has ran a soft inquiry on your credit report and you qualify for loans. You can register on the do not call list at www.donotcall.com

They are paid to call you. When they call again, demand that they remove your name from their calling list. It can take up to three weeks to be removed as their lists are printed 1 to 2 weeks before they start their call outs.

The 1st poster has the best answer, plus quit signing up for junk emails with your ph#. Be sure your phone# is safe and not be used for 3rd parties when you give it out. Don't include your phone# unless you have to.
